The 6 Types of Working Genius

Of the three Lencioni books in my top 12, this is my favorite. I’m certified in Working Genius, but what matters isn’t the certification. It’s why I went all in on it.

Two reasons. First, it sticks. I’ve been through countless personality profiles (DISC, Myers-Briggs, Culture Index) that get a fun session and then get forgotten two weeks later. Working Genius is different. I’ve watched it create material, lasting change in real teams.

Second, it’s simple, and it’s built around the team, not just the individual. Most personality profiles help you understand yourself and each other better, which is valuable, but stops short of the real question at work: how does this group function together? Working Genius is built around that team dynamic in a way I haven’t seen elsewhere.

Number 9 in the Quail library, with a synopsis and a five-minute take from Nathaniel.
