The War of Worldviews

This is the newest addition to my library, and it’s made an immediate, real impact on how I move through my days.

The framework is simple and it’s wrecked me in the best way:

  • Connected vs. separated from God
  • Scarcity vs. enough
  • Certainty vs. mystery
  • Perfectionism vs. fallibility: I don’t have to get it right. I’m fallible. That’s not failure, that’s trust.
  • Self-focused vs. others-focused: Connection frees you to love, not manage yourself.

Winship spent 20-plus years in the CIA and as a police officer, so the stories carry weight. I’d put this and his other book, Living Fearless, in the same category as Never Split the Difference: great frameworks wrapped in stories from someone who’s actually lived it.

I hope it does for you what it’s done for me.

Number 2 in the Quail library, with a synopsis and a five-minute take from Nathaniel.
